Původ
Lucas Bishop se narodil v21. století našeho letopočtu v alternativní bodoucí časové linii, ve které lovci mutantů Sentinelové převzali kontrolu nad Severní Amerikou. V této časové linii byli Charles Xavier a většina členů týmu X-Mem, který založil, mrtví. Přeživší mutani byli loveni a buď zabiti nebo uvězněni v přesídlovacích táborech.
Bishopovi rodiče utekli do Ameriky krátce před tím než byl ostrovní národ v Austrálii zničen taktickou jadernou náloží. Brzy byli zajati a umístěni do přemisťovacího tábora pro mutanty Sheep´s Head Bay, Brooklyn, New York. Tady se narodili Bishop a jeho sestra Shard a stejně jako ostatní mutanti byli označkováni tetováním "M" nad pravé oko.
Nakonec lidé a mutanti spojili své síly a svrhli Sentinely, toto se stalo známé jako Summers Rebelion. Nicméně lidé se stále bránili soužití s mutanty a radikálními teroristickými skupinami mutantů jako jsou Exhumes. Jeden z veteránů ze Summers Rebelion, mutant jménem Hecat´e, uvedl že je nepřijatelné aby lidé lovili kriminálníky mutanty, věřil že by se mutanti měli hlídat sami. Tak Hecat´e a další mutanti veteráni vytvořili Xavier Security Enforces, pojmenované po Charlesu Xavierovi na počest jeho snu o mírové soužití lidí a mutantů.
Po smrti svých rodičů žili Bishop a Shard s Babičkou, která byla sama mutant. Řekla jim o hrdinstvích X-Menů a učila je následovat Xavierův sen o míru mezi mutanty a zbytkem lidstva. Jednoho dne když ještě Bishop a Shard byli oba děti dva členové XSE sledovali Virago, člena Exhumes. Virago plánovala vraždu Bishopa, když ji jeden člen XSE zastřelil. Do té doby považoval Bishop XSE za své nepřátele a Exhumes za své hrdiny, ale od té doby se chtěl připojit k XSE.
Později byli Bishop a Shard napadeni kriminálníky mutanty. Bishop se pokusil před nimi svou sestru ochránit, ale byli to dva členové XSE, kteří zastavili zločince. Zaujati Bishopem, členové XSE mu nabídli pozici v organizaci. Bishop přijal pod podmínkou, že bude Shard přijata k XSE také. Takto se stali Bishop a Shard kadety na XSE Academy pod dohledem Hecat´e. Mrzi dalšími členy jejich třídy byl mutant Trevor Fitzroy.
Bishop a Shard nakonec vystudovali akademii a stali se důstojníky XSE. Nicméně Shard se stala Bishopovým velícím důstojníkem. Bishop se spokojil s nižší hodností, aby mohl pracovat v ulicích jako policejní kriminalista spolu se svými přátely a kolegy z XSE, důstojníky Malcolmem a Randallem.
Fitzroy se nakonec obrátil na kriminální stranu a byl uvězněn ale uprchl s dalšími zločinci mutanty skrz portál do doby vlastní X-Menům. Bishop, Malcolm a Randall je sledovali , i když si byli vědomi, že nemají prostředky k návratu do své vlastní doby. Trio uvízlé v minulosti sledovalo jejich stopu do prostřed boje mezi X-Meny a Sentinely. V tváří v tvář legendám svého mládí byla Bishopova první reakce nedůvěra. Nakonec byla Bishopova jednotka pobita ozbrojenými silami Fitzroye během vražedné přestřelky. Jen díky zásahu X-Men těžce zraněný Bishop přežil.
Když se konečně vyrovnal s časově pomíchanou situací, byl Bishop poctěn, když ho Profesor X pozval do týmu, jehož členy od dětství zbožňoval. Bishop našel s X-Meny nové cíle, bojovat po boku mutantů dobrodruhů a odvrátit genetickou válku, která pro něj byla historií. Zpočátku Bishopovou přítomností znepokojení X-Meni si brzy uvědomili, že je oddaným učedníkem Xavierovy filozofie ačkoli často až příliš horlivým.
Během svého působení v X-Men, dokázal Bishop pomoci navrátit časovou osu do normálu poté, co byla pokřivena Legionem, mutantem synem Profesora X, který cestoval do minulosti, aby zabil Magneta, ale namísto toho nechtěně zabil svého otce. Bishop také zachránil životy svých kolegů před zlovolnou entitou známou jako Onslaught. Ve své době se Bishop dozvěděl o zrádci v řadách X-Men, který v konečném důsledku způsobil jejich smrt. Nějako dobu věřil, že je to Gambit, ale poté bylo zjištěno, že zrádce není nikdo jiný než sám Profesor X. Třebaže jako Onslaught, Bishop dokázal zasáhnout a zastavit Onslaughta v zabití X-Menů, tím že absorboval energii masivního psionického výbuchu.
Po rozdělení X-Menů při návratu na Zemi po skončení mise v hlubokém vesmíru byl Bishop těžce zraněn. Byl v péči mimozemské Deathbird, která chtěla použít Bishopa v pokusu nárokovat si trůn Shi´arské intergalaktické říše od své sestry Lilandry. Po několika mezihvězdných dobrodružstvích včetně jednoho na alternativní Zemi, kde vládl Shi´ar, se Bishopovi povedlo vrátit se na Zem k X-Menům.
Sužován opakovanými nočními můrami o Fitzroyovi odešel Fishop od X-Menů, aby se mohl znovu věnovat sledování svého úhlavního nepřítele. Vtažením darebákem do jiné možné apokalyptické budoucnosti se Bishop dozvěděl, že jeho nečinnost vůči Fitzroyovi měla za následek, že kriminálník ovládl tento budoucí svět, kde se překřtil na všemocného Chronomancera. Fitzroy se plánoval stát bohem tím, že splyne s časovou energií, která ovládá tuto dobu. S pomocí mladého chlapce jménom Michael, který byl vtažen do budoucnosti s ním shromáždil Bishop malou skupinu mutantů a nasměroval je na jediný cíl: potlačení Fitzroyova šíleného plánu.
Během epické bitvy, která se odehrála cestou přez podivný nový svět porazil Bishop Fitzroye v okamžiku před dokončením jeho šílené výpravy. Nicméně cena za vítězství byla vysoká, Bishopova sestra Shard obětovala svůj život aby její bratr mohl skoncovat s Fitzroyem. Pár okamžiků poté co byla válka vyhrána,byl Bishop plný chronální energie vyrván zpět časem. Mladý Michael zůstal sám v budoucnu, zdánlivě bez naděje na návrat domů.
Spirálou skrz čas se Bishop objevil již v současné době, když narazil do Shi´arské vesmírné stanice ve vesmíru. Jak se stalo Profesor X a jeho tým mutantů Scrullských studentů s jménem Carde K hledali stejnou stanici pro Deathbird, Shi´arskou trestankyni, která byla zřejmě Bishopovou chronální kotvou v současnosti. Pan.galaktický výbor změnil Zemi na mezigalaktickou vězeňskou planetu a Deathbird držela klíč k proniknutí energetickou bariérou, která obklopovala Zemi. Bishop málem zabil Deathbird dřív než otevřela přetlakovou komoru a odletěl do vesmírného vakuua nechráněný. Po vytvoření plánu s Profesorem X se nechal Bishop zajmout galaktickým výborem a poslat na Zemi, kde se rychle sešel s X-Meny. Pak spolu s Avengers pomohli X-Meni osvobodit Zemi.
Brzy poté Bishop a pět dalších X-Menů vytvořili frakci X-Menů, přerušili veškeré kontakty se zbytkem tým při hledání Diares of the late slepé mutantní věštkyně jménem Destiny. Tým později převzal zodpovědnost jako mutanti mírových sil, a výprava je na cestě stát se XSE z Bishopovy vlastní doby. Poté co porazili mutanta predátora známého jako Elias Bogan, X-Treme X-Men se vrátili do Westchesteru pomoci obnovit Sídlo po Magnetově útoku.
